Five life lessons, one week at a time

Dear readers,

I recently read The Top Five Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware (Wikipedia), and it has stayed with me ever since. Bronnie worked as a palliative care nurse, caring for people in the last weeks of their lives. As they looked back on their lives, she noticed the same few wishes coming up again and again.

What struck me most is how simple their lessons are. None of them is about money or possessions. They are about being yourself, making time, sharing what you feel, staying close to the people you love and letting yourself be happy. The book encouraged me to look for joy in simple things, and to care less about owning more.

So I have turned these five lessons into five gratitude prompts. Instead of asking what you might regret, each prompt asks you to remember a time you have already lived the lesson, even in a small way. Over five weeks, you will write about:

If you are new to journalling, keep it simple and write whatever comes to mind. One honest sentence is enough. Over time, you may find the words come more easily, and you can come back to any of these lessons whenever you like.

Enter your email address below and you will receive one short email a week, each with one prompt. In five weeks, you will have explored the five lessons at the heart of the book.

I’m so excited to have you on this journey with me.

With best wishes,
Reza
